Diabase

2025, diabase, 40*15*15 cm
Diabase is a volcanic igneous rock. If the solidification process does not proceed smoothly, internal shrinkage and solidification surfaces can occur, which is why diabase may not be used in construction. These surfaces are beautiful to look at, as shown in the square photo: all kinds of color shades, relief and stripes. The narrow rough surface is a fracture surface. The shrinkage surface and fracture surface are both unworked. The areas with the white lines are chiseled areas: each line is a chisel stroke. The top has been sanded smooth, revealing the deep green color with the spot pattern. A beautiful stone!
